Weird to Clarity

“Weird”… that’s the only word I can think of to describe the 2017 baseball season.  If your a fellow baseball wife reading this you know what I mean when I say “weird.”  The season didn’t go as we thought it would.  When we signed with the Marlins in November of last year, we had high hopes.  After spending the majority of 2016 in South Korea, we were ready for an American baseball season and hopes of another shot in the show.  For some reason or another, it didn’t happen.  It was dissapointing and frustrating at times but you have to remember to be thankful for a job.  We knew God had us where He wanted us for a reason.  In 2015, I remember sitting in the stands in Buffalo, S had been back and forth I think for like the 5th time that season, and it was utter frustration of just leave him up whats the point, another baseball wife told me, “I always have to tell myself that baseball is a business at the end of the day and there is nothing you can do about any of it.”  I let that sink in; I knew this but for some reason that day it hit me differently, and I decided to control what we can.  Baseball can be a game of “just can’t catch a break.”  One scenario is the pitch was down but somehow the batter hits it to the opposite field for a single.  I don’t understand it, and I’m not going to rack my brain trying to figure it out either.

Being an hour and a half from home this season was such a sweet blessing.  My entire family was able to watch S pitch for the first time since 2010.  I was able to drive “home” when S left for the road with our son.  I didn’t have to miss out on little things with friends and family.  I had help with my son when I needed a break.  Crazy thing is I interned for at that time, New Orleans Zephyrs, in 2010 after I graduated college.  There were still a few employees there from when I worked there, and it was neat to talk to them and meet other new staff members.  I made many new Baby Cake friends; it was so nice to be surrounded by staff who knew where I lived, we had things in common.  We would talk Saints football and how bad we are!  It was so refreshing from being in South Korea and having no idea what anybody was even saying.  Our son literally grew up at the Shrine on Airline.  His first game he was 4 weeks old.  He went from sleeping through all the games to squirming and alert by the end of the season.  Sutton and I couldn’t be more proud of our big guy, and the season he had to fight back and finish strong.

Our next adventure is back to the Dominican Republic where S played in 2014.  We will be married 5 years on October 20th so figured a little beach getaway would be a great way to celebrate am I right?!  We are excited to go back and play for the Estrellas Orientales.  Sutton and I will be going over for 2 weeks to meet S.  We are excited to see what God has in store for us in 2018 whatever it may be.

Speaking of new adventures, during the season, I started to feel a longing to do something for myself.  I had prayed for the right thing to show up, and I would know when it was something I should do for myself.  I struggled with hormonal acne during and after my pregnancy.  I was at my wits end; so, I decided to contact a friend I made with the Blue Jays.  She was selling Beautycounter, and I remembered her posting about charcoal and all the benefits it had for the skin.  Also, I knew Beautycounter was safe for your skin, and they had banned over 1,500 harmful ingredients.  I refused to use something that had hormone disruptors in it.  Long story short, I bought the charcoal mask and after letting it sit on my skin for 10 minutes, I saw immediate results.  I was seriously mind blown.  I had brighter, more even-toned skin and my acne dried up in just minutes.  It has changed my skin forever!

So, after seeing results, all I talked about was Beautycounter.  I had every excuse in the book to not join as a consultant.

  1. I have no time.
  2. I’m too busy.
  3. I hate sales

Finally, S was like all you talk about is Beautycounter and what it has done for your skin. I decided to dive in and become a consultant.  In the midst of a “weird” baseball season, I took the plunge and have had a blast.  I found I do have time; all I need is my thumb and my phone and I’m providing an extra income for my family and doing something I’m passionate about.  I have reconnected with so many baseball girls other the past years, and we are working together to make a better life for our families.  Our mission is to get safer beauty into the hands of everyone, and we won’t stop until we get there!  My family of 3 couldn’t be more grateful to all of you who have supported me in this new venture.  This is just the beginning….
