We left for spring training on Saturday, February 20th.  S had to report the 21st.  We normally leave a couple of days early but since we did not get into our house until later we decided to leave as late as possible.  Because we left later, S got the honor of throwing out the first pitch at our alma mater The University of Southern Mississippi on Friday.

It was definitely bittersweet leaving our new home and our friends and family this time around.  This is my 4th year going to spring training full time with S, so you would think I would be use to what is to come.  I think the hardest part this year was leaving our home and Skylar behind.  He loves getting in the middle of all the packing.  S and I are just blessed that my parents love him as much as we do to keep him while we are gone!

The weather in Florida has been beautiful but weirdly cold at night!  The place where we are staying has some fun activities that we got to enjoy before games started.  We played basketball (don’t worry it was just HORSE; nothing to get S hurt), put put golf, driving range, pool, hot tub and the beach.  Games started on Tuesday, March 1st and S was back in the blue uni!  He pitched in the pre-season opener in Clearwater against the Phillies and again yesterday against the Pirates.We have gone through many downs this offseason, but we know God’s plan is at work through it all!  At the time, it is hard for us to see a divine plan when we are trying to pull ourselves up out of the quick sand that is steadily sinking.  It is not for us to understand God’s reasonings but rather trust in Him and remain faithful.  “As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in the mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the maker of all things”  Ecclesiastes 11:5.

So here is to another grand adventure for 2016.  Where we end up or where we will go…. who knows, but we will do it together and with our Maker on our side.
